Parkesdale Farm Market at 3702 W. Baker Street, Plant City. This was an unique, countrified, local farm market that is a huge tourist attraction amoung "older" folks. You might want to look it up on the internet. There were literally hundreds of cars there in the middle of a Friday afternoon with people lined out the door for their strawberry sundaes, shortcakes, milkshakes, ant other strawberry products. It also is a large fresh produce and plant center. It was very quaint; however, do not dress in anything fancy to go there.

More Fairs and festivals to visit including the annual Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival, Strawberry Festival, The Chocolate Festival - which is a must surely... and even a Festival for Motorbikes.

We have the Honda Grand Prix and the The Arnold Palmer Invitational for those of a sporty disposition, a series of workshops in health and wellbeing for those of a more ethereal disposition and The Chocolate Festival for those of us who have given up hope of any disposition other than we just love chocolate. Mentioning it twice just shows the importance of this event in the March calendar.

We are a bit late with this this month. It's been a very busy month with guests coming in for their Christmas breaks followed by our Snowbirds visitors escaping their snowy domiciles to come down to Florida where they have discovered it is an unusually chilly time for us too. Sorry guys, but if it helps, in comparison we are faring better than most of America - where over 70% is under snow at the time of writing this.

Snowbirds are lucky as they have a great chance to visit more places of interest off the beaten track. I hope that you like the remainder of this month's offerings.

ICE AND SNOW in Central Florida - it's official!

As you know Florida is not known for it's dramatic freezing cold winters but once a year Gaylord Palms ships winter in for us to experience.

Two million pounds of ice make up this amazing show in Gaylord Palms from November 20 - January 2. This nine degree environment filled with 3D Ice sculptures, monuments, special effects, slippery ice slides and holiday scenes is sure to thrill and delight you. 40 Artisans from Harbin in China spend a whole month in Kissimmee creating this attraction. This year's main theme "Twas the Night Before Christmas" features eight holiday scenes telling this well known and loved Christmas holiday story.

Also at the Gaylord Palms you can visit the first Snow Festival, where 40 tons of snow has also been shipped in so you can build snowmen, play games and generally have a great time! Added to that you can dine with Mrs. Claus and a host of other events to celebrate the Best of Florida Christmas Celebration at the Gaylord Palms.

The Polar Bear Club For those of you with a strong constitution and wish to participate in a charity event then make sure to go to the Ice show on the morning of December 4th. Tickets are $19.99 for this one day special where you get the chance to visit the show wearing only your swimming costume to take the plunge into the icy depths of this exhibition and take a cool trip on the slides all in aid of the Children Miracle Network charity and your membership to the Polar Bear Club. There is also a warm up reception for you afterwards with hot coffee and hot chocolate. Once you have donned more suitable attire you can then have a more leisurely stroll through the exhibition later in the morning.

I am sure all of our snowbird guests will be thrilled to hear that they can visit this spectacular show and be reminded of the ice and snow at home....

However, if any of our snowbirds have brought their Snuggies with them (you know, the wrap around blankets with sleeves in) then you can go to the Ice show on Sunday between 10 - 2 and get in for half price! See! There was a reason for bringing them with you!

Everyone knows what Orlando is famous for. Immediately we think of Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld. However, for those who are maybe staying longer than the normal vacation break, you might like the opportunity to explore some of the other great places to visit during your stay. Silver Spurs Rodeo (February 2011 Dates to be announced) - The largest rodeo east of the Mississippi, draws some of the baddest bulls and cowboys in the business. Located in Kissimmee, just a few miles from Central Florida's theme parks.

With Children

Universal, Orlando So much will be happening as both parks are staying open to see in the New Year with special events planned for your evening.

SeaWorld More fun can be found at SeaWorld. Open until the small hours there will be special entertainment, more shows, music and great food!

Disney World: Downtown Disney, Hollywood Studios,Magic Kingdom and Epcot usually have DJ dance parties and multiple fireworks displays to see in the New Year. Disney Boardwalk is the venue for those wanting to dance the night away where all the bars and clubs will be open until 2 a.m.

Without Children

Universal City Walk - Rock in the year with great celebrations throughout all seven clubs, all you can eat gourmet food and guest star Brett Michaels performing for one great price. Enjoy your Midnight Champagne toast with a spectacular sight of a confetti burst over the whole of Universal's City Walk. For over 21's only.

Downtown Orlando usually hosts a "block" party with entertainment and outside dance areas. More information will be available closer to the time.

Hard Rock Cafe is hosting a party including studio musicians and vocalists performing The Best of Woodstock.

And the rest.... No end of clubs will be hosting their own private events and dinners and we will add more as they come to light over the next month or so, so please check again.

Babysitting Services.

As you can imagine, this time of the year is going to be hard to get anyone so if you would like to use a babysitter and enjoy some adult time, please let us know asap so we can arrange that for you.

The company we use is fully bonded and insured, does scrupulous background checks on all the babysitters and so you can be happy in the knowledge that your children are well taken care of.

The cost of babysitting for New Year's Eve will be: $18 per hour for the first child and $1 extra per additional child plus a $10 travel charge. There is a 4 hour minimum.
